PRESSRELEASE
Genk, 24th September 2008
From 1st September 2009 onwards, Belgian Logistic Center nv (BLC) will take care of the complete logistic run of the SABIC PP Automotive Compounding factory in Genk.
For 30 years already, BLC provides internal logistic services within a number of petrochemical factories in Antwerp, Kempen and Limburg. Within this activity, they employ a hundred persons.
The cooperation contract with SABIC is the first project in which BLC delivers the complete on-site logistic infrastructure: debagging silo’s, a hundred stock silo’s, 17.500 m² warehouses and packing machines. Transport Gheys will provide the necessary means of transport.
For BLC it concerns an investment in the logistic infrastructure of over 22 million Euros.
BLC will employ about 25 persons on the site in Genk. The total employment on the site will be 100 persons. For SABIC, as well as for BLC, this new plant and the cooperation between both parties is an important step in the strategy towards the future.
Mark Neville (Business Unit Director SABIC PP Automotive): “SABIC, which stands for Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, is established in Saudi-Arabia with capital seat in Riyadh. SABIC is a producer of petrochemical products for, among other things, the car-industry. The company has picked Genk for the building of a new production unit of plastic grains for the car industry in Western, Central and Eastern Europe. The new factory will be operational in 2010. In the first stage the company will employ 75 persons.” “SABIC wants to expand its production for the car industry considerably in the next few years, and building the factory in Genk fits in this strategy.”
Erik Vande Paer (managing director of BLC): “For several decades already, we are leading provider of several logistic- and transport services for Belgian and European petrochemical companies. The last few years however, and also by means of our inland container terminal – where we offer all logistic services that our customers request – we also collaborate with petrochemical players that sent certain goods from the Middle- and Far East to Europe.” “The company Zeppelin, established in Genk, is the principal contractor, who will build the logistic infrastructure as well as the production unit. ING België NV, through their sector specialists transport and logistic, made the investment possible for BLC.”

Every week, the inland terminal in Mol receives barges loaded with steel roles from a steel factory in Charleroi. Per delivery 1300 tons are transported, which corresponds with approximately 50 truck loads.
Until now the steel was delivered at the client/factory via road transport. Now the road transport is limited to the shuttles between the quay and the client/factory. After processing the steel to construction mats and fences,
Transport Gheys takes full care of the transport from the finished products for the German market.

March 2008
In the beginning of March 2008 Belgian Logistic Center started using 32 extra silos of 308m³. This brings the total number of silo’s in Beringen up to 220 silos.
In Mol we currently operate with 55 silos. The next phase of expansion is being examined at this very moment. The extra capacity we want to realise in Mol is an extension of the existing terminal with quays and the existing warehouse with a total surface of 15.000 m².
Besides the transport and the handling of different sorts of plastic – which are still the main activities for Transport Gheys and Belgian Logistic Center – the terminal in Mol also started with several logistic activities in the steel-sector. Coils, plates, long bundles as well as steel in bulk can be handled and stored.

November 2007
Transport Gheys has equiped 3 new vehicles for regional transport. It is a variant of the Iveco Stralis that is nowadays also used in our international fleet. Though, for the regional tranport activities, we did opt for a smaller cabine. These new vehicles will offer more comfort, performance and joy.
We wish our drivers success and a safe journey!
July 2007
Building of a new warehouse in Mol has started. This new warehouse has a surface of 10.000m² and will be ready October - November 2007.
